Prof. Prakash Nagabovanalli B, is currently working as Dean (Agriculture), College of Agriculture, University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Bangalore, India. He received his Ph.D. in Soil Science and Agriculture Chemistry from (UAS), Bangalore in 1995 and awarded JSPS  Post doctorate from National Agriculture Research Organization, Tsukuba, Japan during 2003.

Dr. Prakash’s research focuses on different silicon sources such as rice husk biochar, diatomaceous earth, foliar silicic acid, calcium silicate and slag-based gypsum in Indian agriculture. He has published over 100 articles in international and national journals. He has played a substantial role in inclusion of “Diatomite Amorphous Silica”, a source of natural Si fertilizer and “Ortho Silicic Acid” as beneficial element fertilizer in Fertilizer Control Order (FCO), India. He has received many awards, including Fellow of Indian Society of Soil Science (2022), Fertilizer Association of India award for excellence for the best work done in the field of Plant nutrition (2021), Dr. Kalayya Krishnamurthy National Award for the Best Agricultural Research (2018), Professor Sant Singh Memorial Award for Excellence in Education and Research in Soil Science (2016) from Indian Society of Soil Science, ICAR Best Teacher Award (2012), Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) award for organizing Indo-US Workshop on ‘Silicon in Agriculture’ (2010). Dr. Prakash has been elected as the First President of the International Society for Silicon in Agriculture and Related Disciplines (ISSAG) for the period from 2014 to 2017 and also one of the International steering committee members of the Society of Plant Soil Interaction at Low pH (PSILPH). Dr. Prakash organized ‘Indo-US workshop on Silicon in Agriculture’ during 2010, 8th International Symposium on Plant Soil Interactions at low pH during 2012 and 7th International Conference on Silicon in Agriculture during 2017 at UAS, Bangalore.
