Dr. Kazumichi Fujii is Senior Researcher at the Department of Forest Soils, National Research and Development Agency Forest Research and Management Organization, Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute, Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan. He received his Ph.D. in Agriculture from Kyoto University, Japan in 2009 and did postdoctoral training at Kyoto University and Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute until 2012. In 2013, he joined Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute as a researcher. In 2015, he became a senior researcher at present institute. Dr. Fujii has been working on forest soil acidification and its mechanism. So far, his group has published more than 60 papers in international journals including Global Change Biology, Soil Biology and Biochemistry, Geoderma, and Ecosystems. He has received many awards, including Suzuki award from Japan society of Ecology (2013), Achievement Award for Young Scientists from Japanese society of plant nutrition and manure (2015), Achievement Award for Young Scientists from Japan Agricultural Society (2016), Ecological Research Paper Award (2018), Kawai Hayao academic award (2019), Pedologist paper award (2021), Toyama award (2022), World OMOSIROI award (2023), Miyadi award from Japan society of Ecology (2023).
